Many Tampa Bay area charities need help, and Tampa Bay Parenting magazine is highlighting 12 organizations that are accepting donations to give to those in need for the holidays.
One organization you can donate to is Mary Lee’s House, which is a child protection and advocacy group founded in 2008.
“The community can do as little as donate a toy or sponsor a family for Christmas,” said Rebecca Grieco, the development and events coordinator at Mary Lee’s House.
“They are always so excited. They say, ‘How did these toys get here? Who gave them to you? How do you get to give them to me?’ So that’s the moments that I get to say, ‘The community comes together to bring all these amazing toys and they want you to pick out whichever one you want.’ So it’s a huge impact,” said Reagan Hering, the operations manager with Mary Lee’s House.
Additionally, there are other organizations to donate to in the Tampa Bay area, such as: Metropolitan Holiday Tent, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Children’s Home Network, HOPE Children’s Home, Sincerely Santa, Ronald McDonald House, Heart Gallery of Tampa, The Spring of Tampa Bay, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Shiners Hospital for Children, Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay, Friend’s of Joshua House Foundation.
All of these organizations are accepting donations up until just days before Christmas. Families can donate online or in person. Meredith Biesinger, a writer for Guide to Greater Tampa Bay, said, “The important thing is that everyone is working together to give back and help build a greater community during a time of year that is both exciting and often very difficult for many.”
