Crist makes final appeal for votes, vows lower costs for higher education

Charlie Crist stands in front of voters and press at an event in Tampa Monday

Monday was the last day for candidates to get their message out.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist was in Tampa to make one more urgent plea for any last-minute voters.

Crist held a press conference on Monday, inclusive to media and his supporters. Representatives who spoke before Crist all expressed their unanimous goal in two separate languages (English and Spanish).

Representative Fentrice Driskell, a supporter of Crist’s, touched on concerns about what a Democrat governor would mean for the economy.

“The economy will come back, it is cyclical,” she said. “America is strong. We are strong. We will always come back.”

Crist brought attention to women’s rights, the L-G-B-T-Q+ community, and felon voting rights. He also discussed the cost of a higher education.

“You know I want to make sure that any student can get the type of education they deserve… that we keep it as affordable as possible…,” Crist told the crowd. “Whether it’s education, whether it’s utility bills, whether its property insurance. We are the most expensive state to live in America.”
