Audio: USF’s first all-female cabinet is ‘sheer chance’

The first all-female student body cabinet poses outside the Marshall Student Center

USF Student Government has made great strides in the realm of progressive leadership. In October 2021, Student Government announced that the entirety of its new cabinet is made up of women, a first for Student Government. Student Body President Julia Cunningham shared some of her thoughts on this historic event.

Cunningham explained she was pleased with the overwhelming number of strong female candidates who showed up.

According to Cunningham, the cabinet being all women was not intentional. It was sheer chance.

“Our goal was to find the most qualified individuals for these positions,” Cunningham said.

The executive branch consists of nine women: Julia Cunningham (President), Jillian Wilson (Vice President), Alliyah Edwards (Attorney General), Monica Smith (Chief of Staff), Victoria Williams (Chief Financial Officer), Natalie Vlckova (Solicitor General), Amanda Baxter (Chief Marketing Officer), Renuka Persaud (Multimedia Specialist), and Sydney Zerbe (Graphic Design Specialist).
