A soup restaurant in Ybor City has not only been serving delicious cups of soup for over a decade, they hae also been giving away free food to those in need.

Ilya Goldberg, Owner of soup restaurant says, “So we’ve been open for, we’re going into our 13th year, this is our third location. So we’ve moved around all of Ybor where we’ve been in this neighborhood for 13 years.”

Goldberg says, “The Stone Soup Company, we sell 10-15 soups a day we always have soup. So our thought was, we were always going to have leftovers, we’re always going to have a mix up where we make something wrong. It’s still edible, it’s still good food but it’s not something we would necessarily sell in the restaurant. It stores well, it tastes better the next day and so it travels easily to the different shelters.”

“We kind of thought, you know, lets create this need in our community. Lets not ship what we’re doing away. Lets keep it local and lets feed the people that really need it and at the same time we can have a good time with it and kind of spread the word and be, you know, a part of this cause,” says Goldberg.
