Wild night at Chili’s lands man in jail

Helicopter video of a burglary suspect at night

A man was arrested and charged with threatening to shoot at an employee at a Chili’s restaurant in Valrico.

Police responded to a trespassing call at Chili’s on Lithia Pinecrest Road. The suspect, Valentin Malin, 21, was trying to break into an employee’s car asking for the whereabouts of another employee, deputies said. When the victim refused Malin pulled out a gun but fled once the deputies showed up.

After some investigation deputies found out that Malin was sending threatening text messages and an image of the gun. A helicopter was sent out to locate Malin and he was spotted at Bloomingdale Avenue. Deputies were able detain Malin and took him into custody.
