Cold Weather Shelters Open For Those In Need

Hillsborough County is opening several cold weather shelters for people who do not have access to adequate heating. The locations include the Salvation Army on North Florida avenue.  Metropolitan Ministries is also giving motel vouchers to families in need.

All cold weather shelters will also be accepting clothing and toiletry donations to help those struggling. Some of the locations include:

Salvation Army is in need of volunteer bell ringers this holiday season.

Car Crashes Into A Home This Morning

A woman dies after crashing her car into an unoccupied home this morning in Spring Hill. The crash took place on Irondale Avenue and Elston Street at around 10:30 a.m. Officials say the woman died from injuries resulting from the impact.

Pinellas County Teen Sentenced To 25 Years

A Pinellas County teen was sentenced today for shooting his girlfriend in the face. Naomi Rosado, the victim, was five months pregnant, at the time of the incident. Charles Tenpenny was sentenced to 25 years.

Rosado survived the attack and is unhappy with the sentence. The Rosado family is thinking about taking their grievance to Tallahassee.

#GivingTuesday Starts Today

This is the start of the gift-giving season, but it is also the start of the charitable giving season. Giving Tuesday, a global giving movement, starts today and encourages people to donate to a variety of organizations.

The movement is intended to be a social media awareness effort encouraging people to get involved in their local communities. People are encouraged to share their giving ideas via social media with the tag #GivingTuesday.

Sparkman Wharf Opens This Friday

One of downtown Tampa’s newest projects is getting ready to open to the public. Sparkman Wharf opens this Friday in Tampa’s Channelside district. The space features waterfront views, outdoor seating and new dining options.  Sparkman Wharf is the first development in Tampa’s Water Street transformation.

Sparkman Wharf is part of a large development plan for the area, and it promises to be an entertainment-driven spot.
