Many early voters interviewed were concerned with removing the incumbent president more than any other issue, younger voters especially are concerned with climate change.
Kristin Bach, 20
Max Cochran, 19
“I made my decision when Bernie Sanders announced his campaign.” Said Cochran. “I think he’s going to be the best candidate for us because he never lies, he never changes, he never sucks up to anybody and that’s why I want to vote for him. I trust him the most out of all of them.”
Susan Taylor, 41
“We’ve got to get Trump out of there.” Said Taylor. “We were debating our choice even when we pulled into the parking lot; I voted for Biden.” She said. But when asked about her level of enthusiasm, Taylor said she was lukewarm about her choice.
Gordon McClung, 62
“We’ve got to get Trump out of office.” Said McClung about his motivation to get to the polls. “I made my decision about five minutes ago; it was down to two choices. I voted for Biden.”
Tanikee McNeal, 43
“Our young people are aggressive about [climate change], and from what I can tell about who follows [Sanders], it’s our young people.” Said McNeal. “I feel like if our young people are passionate about it, and they’re passionate about [Sanders], then maybe we can get something done.”
Tamara Kilgore, 57
“I’m concerned with some of those issues,” said Kilgore regarding things such as healthcare and the economy, “…but my main issue was to change our President.”
