Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

Tampa’s ranked as one of the best cities in the entire country to maintain an active lifestyle in according to a 2019 WalletHub study.

After 40 years and six mayors, the Tampa Riverwalk is a healthy oasis.

The Riverwalk is 2.6 miles and stretches along downtown Tampa. It’s an ideal path for walkers, joggers and bikers.

“It’s beautiful,” Runner, Cristen Litz said. “And I like that it’s always well-lit and it’s safe so I can run here anytime, during the day, by myself.”

A popular stop that’s along the path is the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

“This is very centralized portion of downtown Tampa,” Yogi, Calvin Quinn said. “Everyone can get to it.”

The American Planning Association recognized the Tampa Riverwalk for the Great Places in America award.

Yoga

Another stop along the Riverwalk is Armature Works. Armature Works has been hosting free yoga since last year, when it first opened.

“It’s been so much fun even though it is hot,” Yogi, Alejandra White said. “We still had a blast.”

Yoga on the Lawn is open to all levels of experience. Instructors from Bella Prana Yoga and Meditation lead the class. All you need is a yoga mat, a towel and a water bottle.

The yoga class is held once a month from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Front Lawn at Armature Works.

Bike Trail

Studies show that being in nature for 20 minutes can significantly reduce stress levels. If you consider that along with the fact that regular biking can reduce chances of a heart attack, the Courtney Campbell Causeway is the perfect place to improve your physical and mental wellness.

Ben T. Davis Beach is located right off of the causeway.

At Ben T. Davis Beach, you’ll find scenic bay views, a sandy beach and entry to the Courtney Campbell Trail. Bikers, joggers and walkers take advantage of the nearly 10-mile trail.

It runs along the south side of the causeway linking Hillsborough county and Pinellas county.
