Just as students at the University of South Florida start getting used to their new socially distant semester, the rest of the state off-campus continues reopening.
The state entered Phase 3 of reopening this week after Gov. Ron DeSantis gave the OK to move forward last week. According to some USF students, what is best for restaurants may not be completely aligned with what is best for a university of over 50,000 students.
“I’ll see groups of students walking around without a mask and walking into the Hub,” said business major Gaby Arias.
USF is still in stage two of reopening. Arias believes students aren’t ready to have the school fully open.
The desire to have the campus restored to its bustling glory dwells with most Bulls. To many, that would mean a “sooner than later” end to on-campus restrictions. Ashley Miller has a date in mind, in fact.
“The rest of this year would suffice enough,” said Miller.
Miller is a sophomore who just arrived at USF. She struggles with the transition to online learning. She encouraged everyone to wear masks so all class can be back indoors.
“Having the spring semester with some of it online would also be ok,” Miller said. “If people would just continue to follow the guidelines.”
