For many people dancing is just a form of leisure and for others, it’s something that keeps them going. Professional dancer Sammy Kedziora has been dancing since the age of eight.

The University of South Florida dance program prepares and inspires students such as Kedziora to take the stage and fulfill the magic of movement. Kedziora knows the tough road ahead to become a professional dancer is uncertain, but she continues to chase her dream. She will be studying dance in Israel this summer.

Dance is a physical, embodied art form. It connects people without words – and connects us to our own humanity through an awareness of the body.

“I don’t think people really realize how impactful art can be, you know, it’s kind of almost put in this box that if you’re an artist, you’re like struggling or a little bit too in tune with yourself or sensitive, but art was made for everyone,” said Kedziora.

There is beauty in dancing to the rhythm of your heartbeat and moving your body. Dance has been found to be very therapeutic, some people turn to art for coping mechanisms, and it helps in various ways.
