Man resists arrest by biting deputy and putting him in headlock
A New Port Richey man was arrested late Tuesday night after deputies say he struck a vehicle head-on and bit a deputy’s forearm before being detained and bitten himself by a K-9 unit.
Police say they began to pursue Duane Sheehan, 33, after they suspected him of drug activity. Once they began to pursue Sheehan, he fled, leading to a series of events — including a crash with another civilians car that sent its driver to the hospital.
Sheehan was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault on an officer, possession of methamphetamine, battery and resisting arrest with violence, among others.
Clearwater police officer faces a domestic battery charge after incident with girlfriend
An officer with the Clearwater Police Department was arrested early Friday morning after an incident with his girlfriend turned physical, the department said Tuesday. Christopher England, the officer, faces charges of domestic battery and tampering with a witness, police say.
Police did not release any additional details about the incident or if England’s girlfriend was injured.
Day of the Dead celebrations at Taco Bus
Taco Bus locations around Tampa Bay will celebrate the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead by hosting costume contests and giveaways for three days.
The celebration will go on from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
Sex offenders on special watch by police during Halloween
Sex offenders are forbidden to have any Halloween decor at their houses and cannot participate in trick or treating, police say. To ensure Tampa sex offenders do not break this rule, the Tampa Police department says it’ll be performing regular checks at houses where known sex offenders live throughout the night.
Watch out for blue buckets this Halloween
Candy givers should be aware that Trick or Treaters who use blue buckets this Halloween may be autistic.
The idea of having autistic persons use blue buckets is so candy givers know its ok to give out candy, despite the age of those who carry the bucket.
Halloween deals at restaurants
Numerous restaurants in the Tampa Bay Area are offering special deals this Halloween for those who show up in costume — including Chipotle, McAllisters Deli, IHOP, Cici’s Pizza, Chuck E. Cheese, Beef o’ Brady’s and Krispy Kreme.
