Parents have yet another social media worry for their kids : TikTok is suggesting to cook chicken marinated in Nyquil.
The Food and Drug Administration says that just inhaling Nyquil into your lungs can put your respiratory system at serious risk. Heating chemicals will change their properties and cause a reaction that is not safe to inhale or consume.
“The challenge sounds silly and unappetizing — and it is. But it could also be very unsafe. Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication’s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs. Put simply: Someone could take a dangerously high amount of the cough and cold medicine without even realizing it”, says a Sept. 15 post on the FDA’s website.
If you find your children cooking with Nyquil or using over the counter medicines in ill advised ways call 911 immediately. Other ways to prevent your children from experimenting with these over the counter medicines is to sit down and explain the consequences of using these drugs.
Pinellas County paw patrol receives four newly graduated dogs
Pinellas County just got a little bit safer as it just inducted new dogs and deputies to it’s paw patrol.
A graduation was held last night for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office K-9’s and their partners. The dogs began their training on June 6th and are now trained and ready to take the streets by storm.
The dogs were taught various techniques by Sargent Michael Killian over the last two and a half months to reprimand perpetrators, techniques like obedience commands, bite work, human odor responses.
” After being on the road and patrolling the streets with their partners, some K-9s may be given the opportunity to continue their training in narcotic and explosives detection. The four K-9s and their partners from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Largo Police Department, Clearwater Police Department, and the Pinellas Park Police Department will be recognized with training completion certificates on Tuesday”, said the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office website.
Hillsborough County school’s sexual education curriculum passed for 2022-2023
The Hillsborough County School Board has just approved of the 2022-2023 sexual education curriculum. That will promote abstinence as the first expected standard while also teaching kids about healthy decision making.
