Tarpon Springs is a town full of history and Greek culture just north of Clearwater. Although the town is not that big, it has so much exploring to offer, from museums to restaurants to tour attractions.

Chris Alahouzos, former mayor of Tarpon Springs says, “Tarpon Springs, our historic downtown is a unique place. It has many stores and many restaurants for people to enjoy themselves.”

The historic downtown is on Tarpon Ave. Some things to do while in the downtown area would be, visiting the historic train station, or even eating at restaurants like Backdraughts, and even an arcade.

Alahouzos continues, “But also, we have our cultural center. If you go down to the Spring Boulevard, where we have our Epiphany celebration, you are going to see our heritage museum, there we have a display of the Sponge Industry.”

“But after, if you go down to the Sponge Docks, the famous sponge docks, which is well known everywhere in the world, there you are going to see the sponge industry. You see the spongers preparing the sponges. You are going to see the Greek culture and heritage and also, many stores, and many resturants, where people can enjoy the Greek Food,” says Alahouzos.
