Pinellas County has introduced a new bus transit service named “SunRunner” that is expected to help their residents go to and from in the St. Petersburg area.
The transit features 30 stops across 10 miles of Pinellas county, with major attractions such as downtown St. Pete and beach locations available on the itinerary.
The bus itself is a hybrid vehicle with low emission, inside it contains modernized features that help distinguish it from other transit services. Phone charging stations, free WIFI, indoor bike placement, spacious seating, and more can be found on the SunRunner.
“…This bus is really meant for a variety of people whether is tourists, residents, workers-to be able to commute and travel along the corridor,” said PTSA senior planner Jacob Labutka.
The Sun Runner will be free to all users for it’s first six months of service, after this six month period, the ride will be two dollars and fifty cents for a one way trip. Riders also have the option to pay five dollars for a day pass on the SunRunner.
“The bus itself had lots of room between the seats and that might be very much an advantage for people to come and go and bring their beach bag and their chairs absolutely,” said bus ridder Sue Schulze.
