Collision on I-75
A driver is in the hospital after his semi-truck was involved in an accident this morning. The semi-truck carrying advertisements for a mailing company overturned, spilling paper and debris all over the outer two lanes of 1-75.
A semi-truck that was transporting water and produce, was on the paved shoulder of the interstate having two flat tires serviced.
The mail truck was traveling south-bound when it slammed into another semi-truck. It was stated that the driver failed to stay in a single lane, partially entered the outside shoulder and collided with the rear of the stopped semi.
Traffic was backed up for hours near Big Bend Rd due to this collision.
The United States Postal Service says no first-class mail or Postal Service packages were in the trailer.
The other driver of the stopped semi-truck was not injured.

The exercise is closed to the public.
Blue Pumpkin
Blue pumpkins are a new way of making Halloween more family-friendly this year.
These blue pumpkin baskets can help alert people opening their doors to trick or treaters that the child may have autism. They also allow the individuals to be a little more patient with them.
Two local parents are selling these blue trick or treat baskets so kids with autism can feel included this Halloween.
“A lot of our kids with autism are nonverbal, and they’ll go up to a door and not be able to say trick or treat,” said Scott Band. “And it just becomes an issue with people kind of holding candy hostage for them.”
Scott and Jenifer Band have a son with autism. They started a nonprofit thrift store to raise awareness. Eight of their employees are on the spectrum.
“All these kids are going to grow up and be adults and there’s not much available for them,” said Band. “So we’ve created an environment where we can employ adults with autism and get them the training they need to also go out in the community and work at a Publix or some other location.”
As of right now, they have sold about 500 pumpkins. They are still available until Halloween.
