‘Roller Coaster King’ encourages us to feed our inner 8 year old; plus, three he wants to ride

Theme park enthusiast Larry Fowler has found his happy place, roller coasters.

It all started when his brother dared him to ride everything he could at a carnival on his dime. Fowler rode so many his brother had to cut him off. He loves the rides because each time feels like the first, and it gives him an endorphin high. One of his favorite roller coasters is Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. On New Years Eve, Fowler rode Montu 157 times in 16 hours, estimating 12,000 times over the years.

“For me to ride a roller coaster, especially front seat on this one, is like getting up on Christmas morning as a child, and opening up my Christmas gift,” says Fowler, who lives in Winter Haven.

Rollercoasters are also a form of motivation for Fowler. He is now able to ride Cheetah Hunt because of his 100-pound weight loss in the past four years. He continues to work hard to be able to ride more coasters, like the new Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens.

Fowler’s dream is to ride as many rides as he can. Here are a few that he wants to get to in his lifetime:

Kingda Ka, Six Flags New Jersey

Falcon’s Flight, Six Flags Qiddya

Iron Gwazi, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
