Raymond James testing site overbooked with coronavirus appointments

Due to high demand, the Hillsborough County call center taking coronavirus appointments temporarily has seized operation.

Since making 900 appointments, there aren’t enough test kits readily available to continue drive-thru test site operation at Raymond James Stadium. The service of the call center was maintained by curated health professionals who would screen and qualify COVID-19 symptomatic patients over the phone.

On March 18, Raymond James Stadium granted the request of county health officials to open a site after they obtained kit supplies from the state such as gloves, masks and face shields.

This testing site is free, however it’s exclusively accessible to Hillsborough County residents who have set up an appointment by phone. Up until today, residents could make an appointment and arrive at Raymond James Stadium to receive treatment. However, over 900 appointments were booked, just 48 hours after Hillsborough County health officials opened a call center.

The Raymond James Stadium testing site had created a buzz, as noted by onlookers driving by the site. One Tampa resident took to social media to weigh in on the hysteria surrounding the Buccaneers home stadium.

Testing sites are needed as more residents are suspected of contracting the virus from traveling. Residents who aren’t privy to the infectious spread of covid-19. The University of Tampa has several cases of coronavirus on their hands as some students tested positive for the virus after returning from spring break.
