A judge on Monday denied bond for rapper Billy Adams, who is charged with two counts of murder in the death of Alana Sims and her unborn baby.
Her body was found two weeks ago next to her SUV in Tampa. Her 18-month-old son was found unharmed and sleeping in the SUV. Friends of Sims say she would have turned 23 today. Police promised a robust investigation.
“We are working with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Interim Chief Lee Bercaw.
“She was sweet, she had one of the biggest hearts ever like she would do anything for anybody that she loved and she cared about. And she loved her son. She adored him,” said friend of victim, Antonia Dudley.
Adams was arrested on Wednesday. The Tampa Police Department arrest came nine days after Sims’ body was discovered. The attorney for Adams filed a request to suppress media coverage of the trial after it gained attention in the international media. The judge denied the request.
