President Joe Biden promises to improve Social Security, Medicare during visit to Tampa

President Joe Biden visited Tampa Thursday and spoke on Social Security and Medicare.

Just two days after his State of the Union Address, Biden continues to push his economic agenda. The president would lay out his plan for Americans.

GOP officials responded immediately.

“If the President believes Tampa is thriving,” said National Republican Congressional Committee spokeswoman Delanie Bomar, “he ought to give credit to Florida’s Republicans who are the real reason the state is a paradise for retirees.”

Our Florida Focus reporters were at the president’s arrival and at his speech and provided coverage.

Before his speech started, guests noticed pamphlets on their seats.

Biden criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Rick Scott and told the crowd that the GOP wants to cut back on safety-net programs.

News media reactions were mixed, from left-leaning sources to conservative publications. Republicans opposed the president’s message.
