Murder-Suicide at Clearwater Resort
A shooting at Shephard’s Beach Resort in Clearwater was ruled a murder-suicide.
Clearwater Police identified the bodies as Jeffrey Scott Little and Melissa Sue Little. The husband and wife were found in their second-floor room by a hotel employee on Tuesday evening.
According to police, preliminary evidence suggests the man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. The investigation is ongoing.
This is the latest in a string of murder-suicides across the Tampa Bay Area that took place this week.
Woman Shot by Polk County Deputy
Police responded to a call from Christopher Ingram, a Winter Haven resident, at around 10:30 p.m. and reported that his ex-girlfriend was threatening to kill him and destroying belongings in his house in a “jealous rage.”
Ingram told police that Lindsay Collins sent threatening texts before showing up at his residence.
“I will kill her, take her life and mine, you can watch,” said Lindsay Collins through text to her ex-boyfriend.
Within minutes of police arrival, Collins reportedly charged her ex-boyfriend with her armed raised, holding a knife.
Deputy Sheriff Lance Turley feared for the victims safety and fired a single shot, wounding Collins. Reports say she is in serious but stable condition.
Twenty Unlicensed Contractors Arrested
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, nearly two dozen people were arrested for a number of cases involving contracting without a license and failure to secure worker’s compensation insurance.
County officials warn that unlicensed contractors often do mediocre work. Not only is the work unsafe, but also is likely to not be covered by insurance in the case of an emergency.
“In either case, it puts you and your family at risk,” said Assistant County Administrator Don Rosenthal.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office set up the sting that ran from Sept. 11 to Sept. 15. Officials warn to check the status on contractors before hiring.
Clearwater Employees Arrested
Two Clearwater City employees were arrested on suspicion of stealing city funds.
Clearwater Police identified the two men as Christopher Pieslak, a risk management employee and Brian Pape, an equipment operator.
Reports say Pieslak deposited two checks into his personal bank account that were originally meant for the city of Clearwater.
He is charged with forgery and grand theft of nearly three thousand dollars.
Pape is charged with scheming to defraud after filling his personal car with city gas on several occasions during the last few months.
Tampa Bay Whole Foods Delivers
Amazon announced today that Tampa Bay Whole Foods Market shoppers will now be able to get their groceries delivered straight to their doors.
Shoppers who paid the membership fee to Amazon Prime can now choose from thousands of grocery items such as fresh produce, organic meat, seafood and many others.
Nine other metro areas were announced along with parts of Seattle and New York City.
Orders must be a minimum of $35.
