The gaming console wars have warmed up again now that Microsoft and Sony released details regarding their new next-generation gaming systems just one week apart from each other.

Everything from pricing to the release dates was announced during Sony’s showcase last week, but most importantly, new games were teased.

Cameron Fernandez, a video game streamer on Twitch from Florida, is looking forward to seeing the game come out but is not sure that it will be ready by next year.

“I cannot wait to get my hands on the game,” Fernandez said. “It is just a shame I have to wait until next year, and who knows how many bugs they have to work out when it is finally released.”

Sony began its PlayStation 5 (PS5) showcase with a bang by presenting a trailer for the new version of Final Fantasy for the new console. Final Fantasy XVI will be released exclusively on the PS5 and personal computer. The game ended up as a highlight of the event with both positive and negative press.

Longtime fans of the game have been waiting for this next installment since 2016 when the last version, Final Fantasy XV, came out. The Final Fantasy series has sold over 150 million copies since its original release in 1987. The series has also been adapted to television through a television series and a movie.

The soundtrack and the story behind the game were praised by gamers after they watched the nearly four-minute trailer.

Sarah Key, a YouTube creator from Texas, was thrilled to see it come to fruition while watching the showcase.

“The rumors were true,” Key said. “It looks so good, and I cannot believe the music.”

Fans had heard a rumor that the game would be announced at the PS5 showcase. The rumor started when Final Fantasy XVI had a Twitter account registered to Square Enix, the company that created the series. The account was accidentally made public before the company realized the mistake and made it private, but not before gamers got a look first.

Square Enix has been making games for Sony’s consoles back to the original PlayStation. Sony and Square Enix have not given a release date or price for the new game. The only announcement that has been made regarding the game is that the release is scheduled for 2021.

Critics of the game commented during the live stream of the event that the graphics look like the game is still about a year out from production. There was also talk during the event that Sony would increase the prices of new games from $59.99 to $69.99.

It is expected that those who spend extra money on these new releases will not be happy once they realize the game may have bugs and require new updates to fix them.
