Court Rules in Scott’s Favor in Recount Case

Governor Rick Scott by FL Governor

This morning a judge has ruled in favor of Governor Rick Scott. Yesterday the governor filed a lawsuit against the Hillsborough county supervisor of elections. The suit accused Craig Latimer and the canvassing board of not allowing observers into the recount room.

The judge ruled this violates Florida law. Now representatives from both parties will be allowed in the room with the ballot machine. The recount is taking place for three statewide races.

Suspects Arrested in ‘Hole-in-Wall’ Burglaries

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of five burglary suspects.

Deputies noticed a trend of business burglaries in July 2018.

The suspects cut holes into buildings to avoid security systems. They stole more than $830,000 in items including liquor, jewelry, tires, and cigarettes. There is an active warrant remaining for one person. If convicted, the suspects could be facing a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.

K-9 Deputy Bites Teacher

A Manatee County teacher has suffered two minor puncture wounds after being bit by a K-9.

The incident occurred when a Manatee County sheriff’s deputy was dropping his son off at Imagine charter school this morning. When the teacher opened the rear side car door, the dog hopped out and bit him.

The teacher went to the hospital but is not in serious condition. An investigation is underway.

Car Crashes into a House

A Springs Hill woman was hospitalized after her car slammed into an unoccupied house.

The car hit the wooden corner of the house and entered the master bedroom.

Officials say the driver suffered a medical episode while driving westbound on Northcliffe Boulevard. She was transported to the hospital as a minor precaution. She suffered only minor injuries.
