Halloween DUI Enforcement
The Florida Highway Patrol encourages drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution this Halloween.
“A DUI will haunt a motorist for life,” said DHSMV Executive Director Terry L. Rhodes. “If you plan to be out on Florida roads this Halloween, be sure to use care and precautions to keep yourself and those around you safe.”
The director of the FHP cautioned that his officers will be extremely throughout the holiday, and will enforce a zero-tolerance policy.
“Drunk or drugged driving is simply not worth the risk of losing your life or taking someone else’s life,” said Colonel Gene Spaulding, FHP director. “Our troopers are prepared to take action to stop impaired drivers from placing innocent lives at risk.”
Individuals who will be drinking tonight are encouraged to Uber, designate a sober driver, or find an alternate method of getting home. Parents and their children are reminded to be as visible as possible throughout the night.
It is recommended to carry a flashlight, wear bright clothing, and to put reflective tape on costumes and goody bags.
