Governor’s Visit Towns to Get Out the Vote

With elections only a week away, Florida’s gubernatorial candidates are doing some last-minute pit-stops around Florida to encourage voters to vote, and remind them of their policies.

On Tuesday, Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum and his running mate, Chris King, held a rally in Pasco County to get out the vote. Republican nominee Ron DeSantis also made two stops in Hillsborough County. Both candidates have made several stops in the Tampa Bay Area, even holding their first debate in Tampa last week.

Early voting ends this Friday, Nov. 4. and general elections take place on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Visit here to see the different candidates, and learn about their issues: https://www.tampabay.com/florida-poli…

Free Rides to the Polls

I Voted by Element5 Digital

Manatee County Area Transit will be offering free rides for Election Day. Voters will be able to ride buses for free with a valid voters registration card.

County commissioners have approved free rides to motivate voters. Popular ride-sharing apps, including Lyft and Uber, will also be offering free and reduced rides on Election Day. Uber will be offering free and reduced-price rides to the polls with promo codes given in the app. The app will offer riders $10 off a single ride to their polling location, and get free rides with a #VoteTogether promo code.

Lyft will be doing something similar, by giving users 50 percent off a ride to their polling station. Lyft will also be offering free rides in some areas. Both apps have the ability to direct voters to their respective polling locations. Voters should check their Supervisor of Elections website to see where they will be taking their free rides to exercise their right to vote.

Bike Walk Tampa Bay Promotes Safety

Bike Walk Tampa Bay hosted a pop-up to promote safety for people who walk and ride bicycles. The event was part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) mobility week. FDOT gave away safety items, such as reflective backpacks and armbands, and installed free bicycle lights and provided helmets for those who brought their bike to the event. The goal is to improve transportation safety along Busch Boulevard, near the University of South Florida.
