GrowHouse Tampa: planting the seeds for the next generation of artists

GrowHouse Tampa is a brick and mortar coffee shop, show venue and co-work space dedicated to facilitating and displaying art in Tampa. Its goal is to “till a garden that helps grow new local artists by offering access to useful tools.”

GrowHouse provides resources, such as access to T-shirt, sticker, and pin manufacturing machines, to upcoming artists in hopes to fuel their creativity and create a better atmosphere for the art community.

“It’s a way to get artists to push themselves, but also a way to build community,” says Curtis Davis, GrowHouse Founder.

Growhouse also provides a space for established artists (both traveling and local) to showcase their talents in a venue owned by and designed for artists.

Although GrowHouse promotes art of all genres, they have a focus on poetry. They want to provide a space were artists can learn from each other in friendly competition. “I always think like, you know, iron sharpens iron the best,” Davis says.

GrowHouse has already hosted events at local venues and plans to continue in its search for growth. They are currently partnered with multiple local organizations and hope to get involved in helping the community as much as possible.

Amadeus says, “We continue to strive to do things that are different, to do things that are based in love and based in growth. And that’s what the idea of GrowHouse is: We want to grow together. We want to grow as artists, and we want to grow as people.”
