Tim Burton’s cult classic Edward Scissorhands made in 1980 has one aspect that links it to the Tampa bay area. The home that the main character lives in with his love interest is in Lutz. Located just off Interstate-75 on U.S. Highway 54, this home has become a museum and meeting place for fans of the film. Joey Licalzi is the owner of the home him and his wife dubbed their “Scissorland”. Licalzi had a role in the film, the dishwasher, and that connection has brought him to this home.

“It’s just bizarre living here.” Says Licalzi “I mean, it’s just really different. It is, it’s really different. I love it”

Licalzi and his wife Sharon purchased the home three decades after his role in the film and since then they have been creating a shrine for themselves and others to witness. The “Scissorland” is decorated with art and memorabilia from fans, neighbors and the movie staff. The Licalzi’s get fans of the film driving up and walking on their lawn constantly but they don’t care. Joey waves out the window at them and usually invites them inside. He sees this house as common ground for Scissorhands fans like himself.

“You know, we understand that it’s, it’s a connection we all have throughout the world.” Says Joey.

If you look up “Edward Scissorhands home in Tampa” you’ll be greeted with the address and a title that plugs the Licalzi’s Instagram and TikTok, both usernames are “Our_Scissorland”. Simply hit directions and if you live in the Tampa Bay area you’ll most likely be there in under an hour. The Licalzi’s say to message them in advance if you want to check out the home, they’ll even invite you inside. The Licalzi’s think that this home was meant for them.

“We actually thought it was fate to live in that house.” Says Joey.
