Election Day

Today is Election Day! Make sure to double-check your voting location and have a valid form of identification that includes your signature.

You can find out which ID’s are accepted on the Florida Division of Elections website.

Firewomen Needed

The Lakeland Fire Department is encouraging young women to join their team.

The department gave young women from the Bay Center of Girls to get hands-on experience at the fire station. The girls learned how to save someone trapped in a car. They also learned how to use the fire hose and did an obstacle course fit for a firefighter.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), only 4% of firefighters are female.

NASA Exhibit

Former NASA astronaut, Don Thompson, is in Tampa this week as a part of an interactive exhibit called the Destination Station.

This national campaign aims to promote research opportunities and inspire students to pursue careers in engineering and entrepreneurship.

The public is invited to join Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. at USF’s Muma College of Business.

Kids and Kubs

Kids and Kubs is a senior softball league showing St. Petersburg residents that you’re never too old to play ball.

This softball league is made up entirely of players 74 years and older. They held their ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Kids and Kubs Field for their 90th season this morning.

The league not only has had an impact on the players but the community around them by donating to several charities, including All Children’s Hospital.

To learn more about the league and how to join, visit their Kids and Kubs website.
