This presumptively positive case is the second in Hillsborough County and is waiting to be confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The affected individual is the sister of the previously confirmed Hillsborough County resident who had previously traveled to Italy.

The other confirmed case is in Manatee County.

Bill Galvano, the Florida Senate president, is working to allocate $20 million to fight the virus.

Tampa held its annual Women’s History Month celebration at the Tampa Bay History Center on Tuesday.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor presented the 2020 Josephine Howard Stafford Memorial Award to Jean Duncan, the city’s infrastructure and mobility administrator.

“There are a lot of people that are affected by these women who are doing their jobs at the city as they interact with different people in the community,” said Jennifer Dietz, the Women’s History Committee chair. “This year is actually the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the right to vote, so that is our theme this year, is Valiant Women of The Vote.”
